Lounavoima Oy is presently constructing, and will be operating, a waste-to-energy plant in the Korvenmäki district of Salo, Finland.

The company Lühr Filter GmbH, Germany, has been selected to supply the flue gas treatment system and has contracted B&W Vølund AB as supplier of the flue gas condensing system, including a two-stage scrubber for flue gas cleaning and energy recovery as well as a water treatment plant.

The plant will convert up to 120 000 tonnes of mixed municipal waste from the cities Salo and Turku into heat and electricity each year. The heat corresponds to 90 % of the total district heating required in the city of Salo. The plant is planned to be fully completed in June 2021.
